Seasonal Skin Care Routine
Did you know that you should change your skin care routine seasonally?
As summer is around the corner, we have caught up with Hollie our Spa Manager for her top tips to ensure your skin is looking its best.
1. Clean your skin
This may seem very obvious, but not many treat themselves to a good cleanser. Double cleansing your skin should be an essential part of your daily routine and having a cleanser which deep cleanses and benefits your skin is a must. Our therapists at The Abbey absolutely love the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, not only does it melt away makeup and impurities but it also acts as a nourishing mask. Plus it smells gorgeous too!
2. Scrub your winter skin away
Spring has arrived and summer is round the corner, it’s time to work on brightening your skin. Ensure you exfoliate your skin once a week (any more than this can do more harm than good). This will remove any dry, dead skin cells and your radiant skin will shine through. Please do not feel like you need a really abrasive exfoliator, gentle exfoliators work just as well. It is personal preference.
3. Hydration is key
After months of cold, drying weather and face masks which stop our skin from breathing, it’s time to drench our skin with the hydration it needs. We can do this by simply drinking plenty of water, applying a serum or oil underneath our moisturiser and even upgrading your moisturiser to a super-hydrating one if you feel your skin is still lacking hydration.
Our therapist recommendations are the Elemis Superfood Facial Oil, this is a product which feeds your skin and give it every part of nutrients it needs. Another recommendation is our Elemis Ultra-rich Pro-collagen Marine Cream, this is part of our anti ageing range and is a perfect richer moisturiser for dryer skin.
4. An SPF is a must!
We recommend wearing an SPF facial moisturiser all year round to protect your skin from UV rays and the environment. If this is not something you do then starting to wear one in spring is the perfect time, when we are spending more time outdoors with the sun shining (hopefully). You can purchase moisturisers with a built in SPF or buy a face SPF which will sit nicely underneath your moisturiser and makeup. Even when wearing makeup, this is such an important part of your skincare regime.
