The Abbey Hotel welcomes people with disabilities and has developed this access statement to address some of the more common issues that disabled people face. Please explain any individual needs to our reception team, who will be able to advise on the most suitable options. We aim to ensure that all employees, guests, and others who use the hotel are treated equally and according to their individual needs. Please also take advantage of our 3D virtual tour on our website, which includes bedroom types and public areas; this gives a good visual indication of the hotel layout.

We are ideally located south of Birmingham, situated just 3 miles from the M42 (Junction 2) but set in a quiet area of the countryside.

We have 99 bedrooms and there are 2 accessible bedrooms for wheelchair users.

We have free on-site parking and are close to key transport links, our nearest railway station is Redditch Train Station located just 2 miles away or alternatively Birmingham International Rail Station is 19 miles from the hotel. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance.

The nearest bus stop is 0.2 miles (4-minute walk) various bus routes run every half an hour with limited service after 9.00pm


There are 250 free car parking spaces on site with 6 disabled spaces available for guest use. The carpark surface is tarmac and is well lit at night.

The main entrance door is automatic and measures 1540mm, the door opens outwards.


All of our bedrooms are carpeted with tiled bathrooms. Most of the bedrooms are not suitable for wheelchair users, but are suitable for people with some reduced mobility, perhaps with walking sticks or crutches. We have 2 accessible bedrooms that can be accessed via step-free access on ground level of the hotel which would be suitable for wheelchair users. There is a lift available for access to bedrooms on upper floors.

Public areas & Dining:

All public areas including stairs and landings within the hotel are well lit. We have three fabulous restaurants on site: The Brasserie is located on the ground floor, a short distance from the main entrance, Lounge 98 is located on the ground floor, nearest the main entrance and The Terrace is located on the first floor, on the far west side of the premises and is accessible via lift. The nearest accessible public toilets are on the ground floor, opposite reception in the main entrance.

We offer room service until 10pm. We cater to allergies and different food intolerances although we cannot guarantee against trace elements. The restaurant team can assist to your requirements with pleasure and our chefs are happy to discuss any different requirements.


Public toilets can be found on the ground floor, first floor and in the Leisure area and disabled toilets are located by the Hotel main reception and by the Henley in Arden Conference side, they do have emergency alarm push button, a washbasin with lever style taps, fitted supporting grab rails.

Event and Meeting Spaces:

There are 8 adaptable conference and meeting rooms available in the hotel. All rooms are carpeted, the nearest accessible toilet is by the conference centre entrance on the ground floor.
