A trip to Cadbury World
A chocoholic's dream!
Chocaholics everywhere will swoon while touring this dream factory, where they can see, smell and taste chocolate. With Easter just around the corner, what a perfect time to plan a visit to Cadbury World in South Birmingham.
I visited this fantastic attraction on 18th February arriving at the opening time of 10.00am (pre booking essential). However, a member of staff gave a great tip, for those visiting Cadbury World during school term time, the afternoon is a better time to visit, to avoid the majority of school trips.
For those who want to learn something about the origins of chocolate (where you will enter the Aztec Jungle) and the history of the Cadbury Company, you are in for a treat. I was impressed by the novel ways this information was given. The videos were all excellent: well produced, informative and engaging. Children in particular will love it when the benches wobble (like cocoa beans) on learning about how chocolate is made.
Cadbury World will suit children of all ages, with the younger children specifically liking the Cadabra car ride (don’t forget to smile for the camera) and the purple zone which has several fun interactive things for them to do. The interactive sections on advertising were also excellent, something for everyone, with fun games to be played on touch screen monitors. I loved watching the gorilla playing the drums to the sounds of Elton John.
It’s a MUST for chocolates lovers! When visiting I got three free bars of chocolate, a free small sample of liquid chocolate on the way round the tour, and a slightly larger pot of warm liquid chocolate with marshmallows, delicious!!
There are two Cadbury World shops to stock up on yet more chocolate. I would
recommend looking in the factory section of the shop offering a wide range of discounted chocolate; I certainly got a bit carried away, just in time for Easter!!
Overall I must say all the staff were most friendly and helpful and all appeared to enjoy their job engaging with the customers, I really was most impressed by the great customer service.
I would plan approximately ½ day to enjoy the delights at Cadbury World, with the main tour taking approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, however, there are other attractions to experience while there including Essence, the Bournville Experience, plus a new large outdoor children’s play area which was being built while I visited, is due to open soon and looks as though it will be fabulous when finished.
So if you want to learn how your favourite chocolate is made and take a look behind the scenes at the most famous chocolate factory in the world, then Cadbury World is the place for you.
Planning to visit? The Abbey Hotel is located only a 20 minute drive away from the attractions, great family breaks offers, swimming pool onsite, plus discounted Cadbury World tickets are available to purchase for all hotel guests.
